whaT IS WITH ALL THE LEVELS?

PRE-BALLET

The dancer will be asked to have a certain level of discipline and focus that is appropriate for this beginning level. The ballet barre will not be used; rather, all steps will be learned in the center to fine tune proprioception and balance. Only 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position will be used.

BALLET I

This class is for the dancer that shows they are ready for a more mature and disciplined class as they will now be learning proper ballet etiquette. The ballet barre will be utilized. 4th and 5th position and pirouettes will be introduced. Flexibility will continue to be an important aspect of class and the dancer will be encouraged to have both leg splits before moving up.

BALLET II

This level is for the dancer that has mastered all steps in Ballet I, is able to remain focused throughout an entire class, and shows that they understand the importance of proper technique and body alignment. It will be expected of the dancer to practice flexibility and strengthening exercises on their own outside of class. The dancer will learn multiple pirouettes, petite and grande allegro jumps, head and arm placement, memorizing body position terms and long combinations. Exercises for pointe work will be done as well.

BALLET III

This level is for the dancer that is ready to take on a pre-professional approach to their dance classes. They will be expected to have correct technique, body alignment, and have memorized terminology and body positions. Head and arm placement should be second nature so that the dancer can begin to explore and develop artistry within their movement. They will learn pirouettes with legs in different positions, beating jumps, and display matured control throughout all movements. The dancer may be asked to wear pointe shoes during barre exercises. They will begin to learn variations from numerous ballets and be asked to see one professional performance a year. Summer intensives will be highly encouraged so that the dancer can continue to grow, learn, and be seen by outside professionals.

* INSTRUCTORS DETERMINE THE DANCER LEVELS TO BEST DEVELOP FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS.
